General information about the course
This course provides an accessible introduction to computer science, programming, and artificial intelligence.
Participants explore how digital technologies work and gain hands-on experience with basic programming concepts using Python.
The course is designed to support students in making informed decisions about future studies in technical fields.
Course content
The course covers digital fundamentals, programming basics, data concepts, and an introduction to artificial intelligence.

Learning goals
After completing the course, learners will be able to:
- understand basic concepts of computer science
- write simple programs in Python
- explain how AI systems work on a basic level
- apply logical and structured problem-solving

Prerequisites
No prior knowledge required. Basic computer skills and curiosity are sufficient.
Course schedule
The course consists of 8 modules, each including video content, exercises, and interactive elements.
In addition, live online sessions provide deeper insights, discussions, and practical activities for pupils in WS26.

For actively participating in the course you will receive an automatic certificate which includes your name, the course name as well as the completed units. We want to point out that this certificate merely confirms that you answered at least 75% of the self-assessment questions correctly.

Martin Ebner ist Leiter der Organisationseinheit Lehr- und Lerntechnologien an der Technischen Universität Graz und damit verantwortlich für alle universitätsweiten E-Learning-Aktivitäten. Er hat die Lehrbefugnis für Medieninformatik (Schwerpunkt: Bildungsinformatik) und arbeitet am Institute of Human-Centred Computing (HCC) als Senior Researcher.
