What is iMooX?
Under the motto “education for all”, iMooX offers freely accessible and openly licensed online courses (Massive Open Online Courses) on various topics. They are available to all interested parties free of charge, independent of time and location.

Accounts
I have forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
You can reset your iMooX password at any time by going to the following address: https://imoox.at/mooc/login/forgot_password.php. After entering your login name or e-mail address, an e-mail will be sent to you containing the further steps. However, if this email states that your password cannot be changed via this method, your account was originally created using eduID. You can only have these access data changed directly at your educational institution.
What does "Login with eduID" mean?
"Login with eduID" means that you can log in with the credentials of your educational institution. When logging in, select "eduID" and your institution. This allows you to use iMooX without a separate account.
How do I delete my account?
Of course you can have your account deleted at any time. To do this, simply click on your user name at the top right and select "Profile". In the "User account" section, click "Delete account". After checking "I am sure" and confirming, both the account and all related data will be irrevocably deleted.
Certificates
Will I receive a certificate for every course and which information is listed on it?
Once you have fulfilled all the requirements for the certificate, you can download it yourself by clicking on "Certificate" in the menu on the left-hand side of the course. Your certificate will include the course name, your name, the name of the course instructor, and how many/which units of this MOOC you have completed. To complete a unit, you usually have to complete all activities in the unit and answer at least 75% of the quiz questions correctly. We point out that this is only a confirmation of active participation by a freely registered user account and that no legal claims can be derived from this.
How do I change my name so it is displayed correctly on the certificate?
First and last name can be changed at any time in your profile under "Edit profile".
Course instruction and discussion forums
Are iMooX courses supervised?
Courses on iMooX are self-study courses that you can complete at your own pace. In the first few weeks after the start, the course instructors accompany the learning process, moderate the forum and, in some courses, offer additional assignments or webinars. However, the forum is primarily intended for exchange among participants – for asking questions, discussing and supporting each other. The role of the course instructors here is primarily that of moderators. The intensity of interaction depends on the course. You can find more detailed information in the course description.
What content will not be tolerated in the discussion forum?
Posts published in the forum that a) violate copyright or b) violate applicable law, or whose contents are c) racist, d) pornographic, e) discriminatory or f) offensive in nature or g) contain advertising, will be deleted in accordance with the user guidelines of the iMooX platform without further warning. Likewise, the affected users will be immediately removed from the discussion forums.
Will I receive a notification when someone replies to my post in a forum?
By default, you will receive a notification when someone replies to your forum posts, which you will find at the bell icon at the top right.
Can I be notified about replies to my posts via email?
If, in addition to system notifications, you would also like to receive emails when someone replies to your forum posts, activate emails in your profile: "Preferences", then "System notifications". Find the entries for "Forum" and set the "Email" and "Mobile" sliders to active. You can also set how often and in what form you would like to be notified about subscribed forum posts. You can find this under "Profile" > "User Accoun" > "Preferences" under "Forum preferences".
Are the courses held at fixed times when I have to be online?
Courses on iMooX are designed as self-study courses. There are usually no fixed times when you have to be online. You can learn at your own pace, wherever and whenever you want. However, some courses have accompanying assignments or webinars in the first few weeks. Even if you are taking a course as part of your education or further education, there may be accompanying offers. You can find more information in the course description for each course.
Badges
What are badges?
Badges are digital confirmations in the form of a picture with integrated additional information, which certify certain achievements. There are two different types of badges on iMooX: The first type of badge is one you will receive for each completed unit. In addition, you will receive a course completion badge when you have completed the whole course.
What can I use my badges for?
You can collect badges on iMooX, save them on your device, collect and organise them online in backpacks, or share them via social networks. The most widely used backpack is called Badgr: https://eu.badgr.com. When creating a Badgr account, make sure to use the same email address as on iMooX.
How do I download or export badges?
All badges you have earned can be found in your profile under "Preferences", then "Manage Badges". There is a download icon directly below each badge. You can download the file and upload it to an online backpack to display or share it. For more information about badges, please visit the following pages: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Badges or https://openbadges.org/
Miscellaneous
How do I rate or give feedback to a course?
You can rate a MOOC in the menu on the left or below a unit by selecting the things you liked best. Course ratings are anonymous. Each course also has a course feedback questionnaire, which you can find by clicking on "Certificate". There you can rate the course in more detail.
Can I get credits for this course as further education/for my educational leave?
Whether a course offered on iMooX can be credited as further education or for your educational leave has to be clarified directly with the responsible office. If the MOOC is intended to be accepted by a certain institution, there is usually some information about it on the course description. Apart from badges and the certificate, no other certificates or confirmations are issued or signed by iMooX itself.
How are courses on iMooX licensed?
According to our motto “Education for all”, we want to make sure that course contents can be used freely after publication. This idea corresponds to the demand for free and openly licensed educational resources. iMooX generally relies on the widely used Creative Commons licences (https://creativecommons.org/). Which license an individual course uses is ultimately up to the course creator and is listed in the course description under “Licence”. Please consider these regulations if you want to use parts of the course in the context of other events, courses etc. If you are unsure what exactly the licence allows, please read the link to the regulations, which are available in the respective language.
I would like to offer a MOOC myself. Who can I contact?
We are happy to hear about your interest in offering a MOOC on iMooX.at. Please feel free to contact us at office@iMooX.at and tell us about your plans. In an initial meeting, we will then discuss the requirements and all further steps towards your own MOOC. You are also welcome to complete our moocMAKERmooc in advance, which will prepare you for the creation of your own MOOC.
How can I change the language?
If you are not logged in, you can change the language directly in the top right corner. If you are logged in, click on your profile picture > Language to change the language. The platform itself is translated into several languages. Some courses are also offered in several languages. You can find more information about the languages in which a course is offered in the course description for the respective course.
