Szczegóły kursu

Ogólne informacje o kursie

The Action Plan for the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing 2021-2030 emphasises that healthy ageing should be possible for all people. This Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) explores how we can work towards this goal.
The MOOC was created on behalf of the Competence Centre for Future Health Promotion (KoZuG) of Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG) and funded by the Health Promotion Agenda of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection.

Scope and possible applications

This MOOC comprises approximately 25 hours of learning and is open to anyone interested. It is suitable for individual further education as well as for integration into courses and degree programmes in the fields of health, nursing and social sciences.

Treść kursu

The MOOC provides basic health knowledge with a special focus on healthy ageing and is conceptually aligned with the fields of action of the model “Municipal health promotion for healthy ageing – Caring Communities” developed by the Competence Centre for Future Health Promotion at Gesundheit Österreich GmbH. The course explores how genetic, social and environmental factors influence the ageing process and introduces key concepts of health promotion in older age. A particular focus is on promoting physical and mental health, including physical activity, nutrition, sleep, cognitive fitness and mental health, as well as their interactions. The MOOC also addresses the importance of social participation, relationships, volunteering and caring communities for healthy ageing. Participants examine age-friendly living environments and the use of supportive technologies to foster independence and quality of life. Another unit focuses on health promotion in chronic conditions and the related challenges in practice and care. Finally, the course discusses equity and diversity in later life and shows how health promotion can be implemented in the municipal setting while taking social inequalities, migration and gender into account.

Cele nauczania

After completing the MOOC, participants will have a solid understanding of key concepts in health promotion with a focus on healthy ageing. They will be able to critically assess evidence-based measures to promote the physical, mental and social health of older people and apply them in practice. Participants will recognize the importance of social participation, age-friendly living environments and supportive technologies for independence and quality of life in older age. In addition, they will be able to classify health-promoting approaches for older people with chronic conditions in a differentiated way. They will be empowered to design health promotion in later life in an equitable, diversity-sensitive manner, particularly in the municipal context.

Wymagania wstępne

No specific prior knowledge is required to take part in the MOOC. All that is needed is a basic interest in health, ageing and health promotion. Initial experience or prior knowledge from the health, social or municipal field can support learning but is not a prerequisite.

Harmonogram kursu

The course is delivered over 6 weeks / units. Each unit includes expert interviews, theoretical content with reflection questions/tasks, best-practice examples, additional materials, podcasts and a quiz to reflect on what has been learned. A discussion forum provides an opportunity to reflect, discuss or explore topics in more depth with other learners.

Certyfikat

With active participation, you will receive an automatically generated certificate of participation from iMooX.at, including your username, course details and confirmation that at least 75% of the quizzes (self-check questions) were answered correctly. In addition, you will receive open badges for each completed unit and for the entire course.

ECTS credits: Teachers can integrate the course into their own courses. The MOOC is designed so that the content of all six units corresponds to a total of 1 ECTS credit.
