General information about the course :

EBmooc ²⁰²⁵ focuses on the use of AI-supported workflows (i.e. multi-stage work processes) in adult education.

Using practical examples, participants will learn how to use AI in a didactically meaningful and legally secure way to optimize their workflows - in various contexts, from course design and delivery to strategic decisions. They will expand their understanding of generative AI and know the practical implications of the European AI Act for adult education. They will reflect on their own use of AI and their own role as an adult educator in the wake of rapid technological developments.

The course is aimed at adult educators from different institutions, in different forms of employment and with different areas of focus: training, teaching and education, educational management and programme planning, learning guidance and support.

This MOOC is a practice-oriented training course that prepares adult educators for the AI-supported future - legally compliant, didactically sound and innovative!

Learning goal : Participants are familiar with the basic functioning of generative AI. They are familiar with the concept of AI competence and the competence obligation according to the AI Act and have reflected on and discussed the implications for their working environment. Participants can apply generative AI to optimize the process of educational planning from announcement to implementation and evaluation of their educational offers. Participants can use AI in the course in a didactically meaningful, adult-oriented and legally compliant manner. They are able to develop and implement their own teaching and learning concepts using AI. Participants are able to check generative AI for biases and prejudices, assess its strengths and weaknesses and critically and constructively question their own use of AI. They know how to use generative AI responsibly and have reflected on their own role in the course of technological developments. Participants are familiar with sensible development steps and components of an AI strategy and can outline an AI strategy that is suitable for them or their institution.

Prerequisites :

This free MOOC addresses adult educators in teaching, training and education management. The prerequisite for participation (in addition to adult education know-how) is knowledge and independent use of the most common internet applications, including communication in forums.

Course procedure :

5 units in 5 weeks (workload approx. 4 hours each)
Starting 22 September 2025, one unit per week will be released
Each unit consists of at least one short video, additional working material, an assignment and a short test for (self-)assessment.
Additionally, a forum will be provided to discuss the course topics
An accompanying webinar is offered for each unit
All materials are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License and can be used independently
The course will be available as a self-study course after the initial guided period

Certificate : To obtain a certificate, you have to register on iMooX with your correct name, enter your name in the course profile and successfully complete the short tests of all units. Each test can be repeated several times and you will receive automated feedback to your answers. Partial certificates for individual units are also provided. Badges (digital learning badges) additionally serve as proof of your participation in each unit. The badges are issued when the test in the respective unit has been passed successfully.

Educational concept and design

EBmooc ²⁰²⁵ is designed as an xMOOC. This means that the course has a clear structure and materials (videos, texts) are provided for self-study. During the guided period in 2025 there will also be various possibilities for exchange with other participants and with the CONEDU team (discussion forum, webinars). However, we do not provide exclusive individual support.

Each unit in the course consists of at least one introductory video, additional working material, specific exercises and a short quiz at the end of the unit to assess your knowledge and understanding of concepts.

The content is tailored as closely as possible to the everyday work of adult educators in teaching, training and educational management.

Accompanying webinars

During the guided period in 2025, weekly webinars are offered by the Federal Institute for Adult Education (bifeb). They are open to participants and cooperation partners and serve to reflect on and deepen the knowledge of the course topics and to exchange experiences. Webinar dates: Sept. 23 / Sept. 30 / Oct. 7 / Oct. 14 / Oct. 21 (each starting at 4.30 pm)
