Opći podaci o kursu
This MOOC is part of the EU+ Project HELCI Higher Education Learning Community for Inclusion in cooperation with the University of Salamanca in Spain and the Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania. In the framework of this project we have produced four MOOCs with different focuses:
-
Human rights in Academia
-
Building inclusive Diversity: Learning about affective-sexual and Gender diversity
-
Substantive Gender equality at the university
-
Diversity in the context of university. Racism-critical perspectives into everyday university life
This particular MOOC focuses - as the name suggests - on cultural and ethnic diversity within the university context. Based on the diverse university community of the University of Vienna, we provide knowledge and expertise in the field of diversity, inclusion and anti-discrimination. To this end, we spoke to scientists and experts who work both inside and outside the university environment. In addition, some videos were created by students themselves, who dealt with the topics of racism and discrimination as a part of a seminar.
The MOOC is aimed at the entire university community - from lecturers and administrative staff to students and other educational institutions.
Sadržaj
Sadržaj kursa
In recent years, universities across Europe have become increasingly diverse and inclusive. Nevertheless, as studies and personal accounts show, the university context is still characterised by various forms of discrimination, such as sexism, ableism, homophobia, classism and racism. Access to university is not equally possible for all social groups. At the same time, there is also a growing need to address the diversity of both students and staff within the university. Students in particular are increasingly calling for changes to curricula in order to create an inclusive and diverse university and for teachers to adapt their teaching and content to the new circumstances.
The course therefore provides a basic introduction to the topic of "Racism and anti-racism in the university context" and consists of an introduction and four content-related lessons.
The topics of the four lectures are
-
What is diversity?
-
Perspectives on university
-
Diversity in and out of classroom
-
Students as actors of change
Ciljevi kursa
